Blue Mesa Grill: I would stay away from anything that has flour tortillas. I'm cautious about our steak and chicken as many items have been marinated in soy. I'm not sure if there is flour in the corn tortillas, so maybe you should avoid them to be safe. I've really narrowed the choices in case there are traces of soy in some items. Dallas, Texas - May 4, 2009 - Beginning May 4th, 2009 Boston’s Restaurant & Sports Bar in partnership with Rich Products Corporation will be rolling out gluten-free pizza to their menu nationwide.
Boston’s is one of the first casual dining concepts to implement gluten-free crust nationally. The new menu along with the gluten-free crust was tested at Boston’s corporately owned restaurant in Irving, Texas. Boston’s has received positive feedback from guests who suffer from celiac disease and gluten intolerance. According to the journal, Practical Gastroenterology, 49% of respondents in a survey stated that gluten-free choices on restaurant menus would improve their quality of life (1). Press Release
Bowlarama: 5021 Lakeway Pkwy Rowlett, TX 972-475-708. The Manager, Jim, was extremely helpful. He read me ingredients and took the time to work my issue. I ordered the Caesar Salad without dressing w/a plain grilled chicken breast. (I brought my own dressing and added some almonds.) It worked great. Jim said all the dressing were from Cisco foods and since I do not know anything about Cisco, I just avoided them. It was a very good chicken breast and fresh salad. It has been long enough that if I was going to have a reaction, it would have happened by now. Hope this can help.

Review: Buca di Beppo, North Park We brought our own pasta & they cooked it for us separately then provided Marinara & Alfredo sauces for 18 of us as we sat family-style at a huge round table with a rotating center for passing food. The Apple Gorgonzola Salad was very refreshing & the Porchetta Rustica & Chicken Saltimbocca were excellent choices when ordered 'not dusted in flour.' Staff & managers were very knowledgeable (they carry a list of other allergens including dairy in their apron if you have additional allergies). No GF dessert yet which turned out okay since we were all stuffed in the end-especially from the GF bread Sandy brought. Jessica S. John has been serving me for the last several months and we have been working on what can be made GF. They use only fresh ingredients and cook everything from scratch. They grind the spices on site. The chips are big and puffy and cooked to order and 100% corn. They are fried in a dedicated fryer. 95% of their menu can be made gluten free. The rice and beans, tacos, chalupas ,tamales, fajitias nachos, chicken with rice and pork chops are GF. The burrito can be made with an corn tortilla and melted cheese. Identify yourself as a Celiac and he will work with you to ensure you get a good meal. I like eating here because they have spices that are safe. Fireside Pies in Grapevine has the best GF pizza we've tried. They source their crust from a company in Austin called Gluten Free Kneads (http://www.glutenfreekneads.com/), and top with fresh & unique ingredients (try the pepperoni w/ truffle oil...) Their salad dressings are homemade, so they can attest to ingredients, and they will even make their fruit dessert without the crumb topping so we can eat. It is topped with a scoop of Henry's homemade ice cream (local to Plano - excellent ice cream). They are only open for dinner, and may not be as kid friendly as Boston's. My husband and I recently visited Fireside Pies in Plano after learning they had a gluten-free crust. We went there on a busy Friday night and asked at the host stand if they were aware of gluten-free and what items they had available. They were very accommodating and she reassured us of the crust and other items I could have that were safe. Our waitress was aware of gluten-free as well and after much thought we both spilt the Warm Chicken Balsamic Wraps and theTriple 'Roni pizza with added sausage followed by 3 scoops of Henry's vanilla ice cream with chocolate syrup. Almost everything is gluten-free, the muffins (chebe) and the bread is made with yucca flour. Avoid the smoked fish, tabouli on salad bar and chicken (marinated in beer). Complete salad bar and then the Churrascaria part, waiters come around and cut slices of the greatest meat. You can eat too much food. The salad part is $25 and the churrascaria part is additional $25 or so. Very delicious!

Hey guys, I just wanted to recommend a place that just opened up. It's a coffee house type establishment that also does sandwiches and soups and other stuff.but now has fresh baked GLUTEN FREE goodies!!! So far there are 3 different itmes that are sooooooo yummy, but they are really exploring other stuff as well.
It's called Generator Coffee and it's in downtown Garland (on the square), on 6th street. You can find them on Facebook, where they also give descriptions of the gluten free goodies.
It's a great place to hang out and very child friendly, I have taken my 7 (the one with Celiac) and almost 3 year old there a lot and they LOVE it.

Las Lomas: I just found a marvelous new Mexcian food restaurant that's only been open for a short time in North Richland Hills. It's called Las Lomas, located at 8216 Bedford-Euless Rd., phone 817-577-3335 The staff couldn't have been nicer in accommodating my special diet. All their sauces, even sour cream, are made fresh every day. The salsa and sour cream are both gf, as are the chips. The chicken fahitas are not marinated in gluten containing sauces (the beef is). The rice and beans are both gf. The spinich/mushroom enchiladas are gf. Everything I've tried so far has been outstanding. For you folks in Dallas county, there are three other Las Lomas locations: 2215 N. O'Connor Rd in Irving, 10524 Harry Hines Blvd.#C, Dallas, and 8014 Harry Hines Blvd., Dallas. It's not inexpensive, but well worth it

These are they only things that I have had there. All you need to do is ask to speak with the chef and tell him what our restrictions are and he will tell you if he can do it or not based on what you would like to have to eat there. They even did a few special things for me for mother’s day lunch that were not on the menu. This has been one of our favorites for many years now and I was sad after being diagnosed that I might not be able to eat there again. Maggiano's Little Italy The gluten-free customer can expect special treatment. When you sit down at the table you need only to let the server know that you are gluten-free, and the chef will come out to take your order personally! Sometimes they will make suggestions if you are not sure what to order. If you are feeling adventurous they will work with you to make a dish that you want if they can make a gluten-free version. They carry at least 2 types of gluten-free pasta, usually a corn and potato-based versions or you could bring your own. The type of pasta available seems to depend on the location and local demand. Some chefs will even tell you which pasta is best with the sauce you want, making your meal truly custom! On a recent trip the chef suggested the "grilled calamari" as a change from the usual starters. The calamari was perfection!

Review: Rockfish in Richardson There were 14 present for the dinner club event at Rockfish and the food was delicious. There was quite a range of different selections around the table and everyone seemed to enjoy their meal. There was a little confusion about the lemon butter but the manager assured us it was gluten-free. Rudy's Country Store and Bar-B-Que is a meat market that sells cooked meats. Our pits are 100% wood fired with oak, a slower burning wood as opposed to mesquite. Our meats are cooked in a dry spice, not in our "Sause" (we use it on the side). Our unique "Sause" is being shipped throughout the United States (and Texas, of course).This is a great place to eat. I bought the sauce to put on other things.

In 1910 Elias Bryan moved his family to Dallas from Cincinnati and opened the first Bryan 's Barbecue. His son, William Jennings Bryan, (known as Red for his hair) opened his own restaurant in Oak Cliff, Texas in 1935. Working with his Dad was William Jennings Bryan Jr., who was known as "Sonny". Sonny left Red in 1958 and opened his own restaurant on February 13th, the same day his Daddy and Granddaddy opened their restaurants. The meats and sauce (which are really the best part) are safe. As far as the side dishes, I really do not know. I could look into specific items if you would like, but you may know just as much as me. Most of our side items are prepared just like you would as home. Nevertheless, if you have any questions about specific items I can look them up in our recipe book. Hope that helps. Brent

The Oar House: 303 Hwy 30 Rockwall, TX 972-771-9687 is an excellent restaurant for us. It is upscale Italian in the evening.....but the chef does alot of dishes that are without Pasta. He does alot of sauces and I have found out that most of them are thickened with corn starch. The salad dressings are often made fresh and all the ones I have requested have been GF. The chef even sent out the bottle of champagne vinegar (without me saying anything about vinegar) to make sure it was acceptable to me. I can tell the wait staff what I want and ask the chef to modify anything that is not acceptable, and everything I have everordered has come out tasting great as well as being GF. Most dinner dishes run from $15-30 but lunch is more reasonable. This is my most favorite GF place to eat. It is fantastic. I feel very safe here, because I think the chef knows enough about CD to be aware of what our requirements are. Evening reservations are suggested...especially on the weekends."

For your convenience, Uno's has identified the most common food allergies: fish/shellfish, soy, treenuts/peanuts, egg, milk, wheat/gluten. Examples of groupings are treenuts/peanuts and fish/shellfish. These groupings have been recognized as a result of possible cross contamination that might occur at the processing facilities.

Nancy's husband told the staff that Nancy would need GF food when he made the reservations. When they arrived, the host noted that the chef was aware of Nancy's dining limitations and knew exactly what she could and could not have. In addition, the entire staff was aware that Nancy was eating GF, and they had even bought GF crackers for her ahead of time. She said, The service was incredible, the food was great and the atmosphere was lovely.
Zpizza offers a thin, fire-baked crust available in certified organic regular and whole wheat as well as gluten-free. The tomato sauce is also certified organic. Cheese options include Wisconsin skim mozzarella (from grass-fed cows) or a vegan, dairy-free cheese. Toppings and pizza creations are unique and plentiful. All pizzas are made from scratch. The kitchen uses rice flour and corn meal to stretch all dough to avoid cross-contamination with allergens.
