RoseMarySimmonsHello and welcome!  The Gluten Intolerance Group of Greater Dallas is a nonprofit organization to assist those with Celiac Disease, Herpetiformis Dermatitis, and Gluten Intolerance.  The group meets 10:00 am to 12:00 am the third Saturday of every month except May and December at the Texas Health Resources University, behind the main campus at Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas. We would love for you to be part of these meetings!  We have informative discussions, idea-sharing, event-planning, guest speakers, food sampling, etc.  The group wants to assist you in getting the answers to many of the questions you have about gluten intolerance and living a gluten-free lifestyle.  It is easier than you think!

First of all, there is life after diagnosis! In fact this is wonderful news, because you now have a diagnosis and can begin to heal your body.  You will not have to live on bananas and rice cakes.  You will find resources to help you discover the many gluten free food outlets that are available, whether it be on-line or at your local grocery or health food store. We have a recipe section and links to on-line vendors and much more.

Our group wants to assist you with your gluten free diet/lifestyle needs.  Our members are more than happy to mentor you and your family and help walk you through the first few rough months.  If you would like one-on-one help, please contact our Mentor Program leader, Jessica Millsap at mentorchair@dfwceliac.org.    In time, you will be able to mentor others, which is one of the main reasons for this program.   We have seasoned veterans and brand new celiacs here, all ready and willing to try to get you through the gluten-free maze.

We offer a newsletter to members that can be either mailed to your home or accessed on-line (with a password). If you have any newsworthy celiac information that others would enjoy knowing about, recipes you would like others to try, new gluten free foods you've discovered, personal stories you would like to share, successful gluten-free trips you've been on, etc., please, contact our Secretary, Jessica Millsap, secretary@dfwceliac.org  with your input.

The adults of our chapter also enjoy gluten-free social events, and we would like you to be a part of those also.  Upcoming events, whether they be dining out or our annual May picnic and December holiday party are found in the links to the left  and are published in the Gluten Intolerance Group of Greater Dallas Newsletter.

We are here to help you and raise awareness about Celiac Disease, Dermatitis Herpetiformis and all the associated auto-immune diseases that can be part of your life.  We want to hear your suggestions and ideas.  Membership dues are only $20 a year!  Join us so we can work together and prove that the motto of "Celiacs Helping Celiacs" is a reality here in North Texas!
